Accounting & Finance
Mongolia
Posted on Jun 18, 2024

Our mission is to become the global standard for addressing. Street addresses weren’t designed for 2024. They aren’t accurate enough to specify building entrances, and they don’t exist for parks, rural areas and many parts of the world. This makes it hard to find places and causes problems and inefficiencies on a global scale.

That’s why we created what3words. We divided the world into 3m squares and gave each square a unique combination of three words. It’s the easiest way to find and share precise locations.

Over the last year, what3words has been used in 193 countries, and our monthly active users continue to grow at an impressive pace. Our tech is used by emergency services, delivery companies, eCommerce businesses, ride-hailing apps and NGOs, and is integrated into the navigation systems of millions of cars around the world.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our team. You will work closely with our Finance Administrator, Financial Controller and Finance Director to keep the Company’s day-to-day accounts organised, assist with management accounts and be a respected Finance team point of contact, both internally and externally.

You will be a key part of the month end process, responsible for maintaining balance sheet schedules, posting journals plus assisting with the production of the monthly management accounts. Outside of the month-end cycle you will own the purchase ledger, including working with the finance team to ensure all invoices are reconciled to approved amounts and processed on a timely basis, reviewing employee expenses and company expense cards as well as updating the fixed asset registers.

This role will suit someone with 3+ years’ experience working in a finance team and they will ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified. As we expand our presence in Mongolia over the coming months there will be scope to expand the role and take on more responsibility for the right ambitious individual.

  • Processing expense claims, monitoring spend for compliance with Company policies.

  • Assisting with the weekly payment run, including management of transactions and approvals to ensure processing is completed in advance of bank cut-off times.

  • Support with revenue recognition, posting accrued and deferred income journal entries.

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts, with support from the Financial Controller, including Group consolidation and variance analysis.

  • Assisting with the year end audit, including collating information, answering queries and connecting auditors with relevant people across the Company.

  • Point of contact for set up, company secretarial and ongoing management of Mongolian subsidiaries and associated vendors.

  • You will need a keen eye for detail and a willingness to get involved in lots of different tasks, connecting you with all the different departments of the Company. You will be required to support the rest of the finance team with ad hoc tasks and completion of requests for information.

  • Supporting with statutory reporting and compliance, including VAT returns
