Our mission is to become the global standard for addressing. Street addresses weren’t designed for 2024. They aren’t accurate enough to specify building entrances, and they don’t exist for parks, rural areas and many parts of the world. This makes it hard to find places and causes problems and inefficiencies on a global scale.

That’s why we created what3words. We divided the world into 3m squares and gave each square a unique combination of three words. It’s the easiest way to find and share precise locations.

Over the last year, what3words has been used in 193 countries, and our monthly active users continue to grow at an impressive pace. Our tech is used by emergency services, delivery companies, eCommerce businesses, ride-hailing apps and NGOs, and is integrated into the navigation systems of millions of cars around the world.

The role:

Based in Mongolia out of our centrally located UB office, you’ll be joining our Data team within our fast-growing tech team. You will primarily be responsible for monitoring and managing our Partner usage KPI, one of the primary KPIs of the business. You will work closely with (in fact you’ll be embedded in) the Business Development team to understand the business context of the integrations, allowing you to spot when integrations aren’t performing as expected. You will also work closely with the Data team and other stakeholders (in the Growth, Product and Marketing teams) on some of our other reporting and analytics projects.

This is an opportunity to have a big impact on the company’s performance, by owning reporting, data quality, and insights of partner API usage. You will be exposed to the broad sales strategies involved in selling the what3words API products to partners, and help to understand how well these work.

You will be a self-starter, who is able to initiate, manage and present analytics using a range of data sources and methods. You will also be working alongside Data Engineers and Analysts to generate new insightful views to our data and answer key questions about our business. Finally, you will be comfortable owning and presenting insights to stakeholders, challenging the status quo, and educating the wider company on how to use the data we produce.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders in the Business Development, Customer Operations and Data teams to monitor the performance of partner integrations.

  • Continually evaluate the approach we use to monitor these KPIs, and manage the quality of the data powering these.

  • Create concise, actionable insights to be communicated across the company

  • Architect solutions for data visualisation

  • Understand stakeholder requirements for data presentation and analysis

  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Analysts to develop views, sources and aggregations of data

  • Review SQL and Python code from across the Data team to help maintain data and code integrity

Essential Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in any quantitative field (physics, data science, computer science, engineering, business science - anything with a maths or analysis focus)

  • 3+ years working as a BI analyst or data analyst; ideally directly managing stakeholder requests

  • Experience building rich interactive dashboards with Looker Studio, Tableau, Looker or another major BI tool

  • Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude

  • Advanced SQL

  • Proven experience in working with large complex datasets

  • Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English

  • A focus on high-quality work and attention to detail

  • Strong organisational skills

Extra credit if you:

  • Have worked in a business operations BI role

  • Have commercial experience

  • Have used Git

The role is based in our centrally located UB office. While you can work from the office five days a week if preferred, our Engineering team can choose to work up to two days a week from home. We also offer a six-week remote-work allowance; for up to six weeks a year, you can work from anywhere in the world (as long as you’ve got great WiFi and are happy to work with your main office timezone).
