Technology Partner Manager

Vestmark, a privately-held SaaS provider delivering financial technology and advisory solutions to the wealth management industry, is seeking a Technology Partner Manager to join our Products team and to build and execute on a strategy for managing, our third party technology, market data, custodial/trading and strategic partner relationships company-wide.

As the Technology Partner Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing our integration partners (custodians, sponsor firms and trading venues) as well as market data vendors, and will work with internal Products and Engineering teams to help facilitate new custodial/trading adapters and partner data integrations within our platform.

Vestmark envisions the ideal candidate as an individual that can immediately assume substantial responsibility for defining, documenting, and communicating new partner management processes that will support our current business requirements, but with an eye to supporting the business as it continues to expand. The candidate must excel at working independently while being able to forge solid cross-functional relationships to execute on their vision for the company’s partner management strategy.

This newly-created position will be a member of the Products team and expected to be Hybrid or In Office and based in our headquarters in Wakefield, MA.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner Relationship Management

  • Own all investment management technology, market data, custodial/trading and strategic partner relationships, acting as the accountable business lead internally for such relationships
  • Hold regular touchpoints with in-scope partners; influence partner product roadmaps to support necessary Vestmark enhancements; promote Vestmark priorities and preferences with in-scope partners
  • Manage custodial/trading partner enhancements and communicate impact and timelines to relevant Vestmark stakeholders
  • Find best available third party partners to meet business needs: perform partner evaluations including RFIs and RFPs; ensure partner intake and selection criteria adhere to Vestmark policies; evaluate tradeoffs and alternatives to existing partners
  • Define and manage processes for standardized evaluation and review of partner relationships
  • Manage the sourcing, business-side contract negotiation, and budget planning related to in-scope partners; generate and maintain a comprehensive list of in-scope partners, including principal deal terms (pricing, renewals, etc.); calculate and ensure payment of required periodic royalties and respond to license fee increases
  • Ensure best price received/negotiated
  • Identify and execute on “quick win” cost reduction opportunities with partners
  • Coordinate usage reporting to in-scope partners and track and enforce license limitations; develop and manage a process to monitor SLA credit opportunities with in-scope partners
  • Liaise with Strategy, Legal & Compliance, and Projects & Planning teams on global sourcing, legal contracting and third-party risk management/cybersecurity/privacy issues

Program/Project Management

  • Participate in planning sessions to provide input on any cost savings opportunities within existing partner landscape
  • Articulate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences; understand how data is consumed/beneficial in Vestmark products
  • Define targets, meet phased timelines and project plans; coordinate internal and external teams to meet goals
  • Escalate production issues between Production Support and Account Management
  • Provide support regarding partner relationships as part of M&A activities
  • Utilize expertise in supporting Finance in annual company-wide budgetary process
  • Keep abreast of industry-specific business trends and research data to support decision-making process
  • Evaluate historical and current Vestmark partner contracts, benchmark data, and other relevant data to understand key trends

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated 5+ years of experience in corporate or consulting environments; experience in investment management technology across functional disciplines and with external vendors preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and execute on multiple complex projects concurrently
  • Technical acumen and data integration experience with the capacity to grasp complex technologies and their applications
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Relevant experience in financial services or market data or work experience in consulting is preferred.
  • Experience working with Market Data vendors such as Bloomberg, Moody’s, FactSet, S&P, Exchanges (NYSE, ICE, etc.).
  • Exercise meticulous attention to detail and an organized approach to quickly identify a problem to be solved, and then solve it
  • Ability to be creative and flexible but with a focus on business-oriented outcomes
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for driving innovation and growth

Pluses:

  • Contract management knowledge, including experience negotiating contracts from a business perspective
  • Software and/or fintech experience
  • Experience with privacy and data protection issues facing SaaS software companies
  • Background in budgeting and financial planning and analysis
