TITLE: Lead, Custodian
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
REPORTS TO: Facilities & Maintenance Manager
About the Role
Reporting to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager, the Lead Custodian will play a pivotal role in ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment throughout our facility. You will oversee and support the custodial team in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation for all indoor and outdoor areas. You will be responsible for monitoring and executing cleaning schedules, addressing maintenance needs, and escalating issues as necessary. Your leadership will help ensure that the facility is clean, functional, and meets safety and quality standards, contributing to a positive and productive workplace.
How You’ll Make a Difference
- Ensure the cleanliness of common areas, including offices, breakrooms, restrooms, kitchens, production areas, labeling and bag cleaning rooms, hallways, conference rooms, and storage areas.
- Monitor and address outdoor cleaning needs, such as sweeping sidewalks, washing windows, mowing lawns, and removing debris.
- Continuously empty trash receptacles and maintain cleanliness throughout the facility.
- Stock and maintain supplies for restrooms, handwashing stations, and employee entrances.
- Adhere to company sanitation protocols, including COVID-19 safety guidelines.
- Train, coach, and guide custodial staff on cleaning techniques, proper equipment use, and adherence to safety and PPE requirements.
- Collaborate with management to ensure adequate shift coverage and seamless operations.
- Conduct routine inspections to verify that cleaning standards are being met and provide feedback to the team.
- Utilize and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including warehouse cleaning machines, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, ensuring stock levels are sufficient and storage policies are followed.
- Identify and resolve issues promptly or escalate them to management when necessary.
Qualifications
Who You Are
- Minimum of 2+ years of custodial or janitorial experience, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cleaning products, tools, and equipment maintenance.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively, multitask, and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Forklift experience and certification.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and experience implementing them within a team setting.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive problem-solver who takes initiative and knows when to escalate concerns.
