We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join Tango and help people be their best at work. In this role, you’ll lead a talented engineering team focused on effortless knowledge capture and distribution. We’re looking for a leader who’s excited to take on a challenge - building both innovative greenfield projects and scaling features our customers already love.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need a track record of leading engineering teams, collaborating effectively with product and design stakeholders, and building delightful customer experiences. This is a remote position based in the US, with two offsites a year to meet your teammates in person (and explore different cities around the country!).
What you’ll do
Lead a team of talented engineers to build high-quality and high-impact features in our web application, desktop app, and browser extension.
Oversee the delivery and success of your team’s projects and initiatives, collaborating closely with your cross-functional stakeholders (such as product, design, and marketing).
Work with the engineering leadership team, including co-founders, to define the technical vision, roadmap, and goals for your team and the engineering department.
Build an outstanding team by coaching engineers, promoting best practices, and creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Provide frequent, relevant feedback and career guidance to help engineers excel in their roles.
Do what needs to get done for the team to succeed, whether that’s coding, planning a group activity, or taking a last-minute on-call shift.
Skills in your toolbox
ou have 5+ years of professional experience in relevant software engineering roles, ideally working on customer-facing products or services.
You have 3+ years of managing and leading engineering teams, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment.
You are an excellent communicator who provides hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to your teammates.
You are passionate about creating delightful customer experiences, upleveling your team, and implementing engineering best practices.
You have a track record of successfully managing and growing both junior and senior engineers across multiple time zones.
You can attract, interview, and hire top talent.
You have a demonstrated ability to set, communicate, and achieve ambitious goals and project milestones.
Above all else, you are a continuous learner and are excited to add new skills to your toolbox. We believe that the best engineering leaders can learn new skills on the job.
Experience building and monitoring serverless applications, in particular AWS services such as AWS Lambda, AppSync, DynamoDB, etc.
Experience building Chrome extensions or expertise working with the DOM.
Experience scaling product traffic by 10x or even 100x.
Experience developing and optimizing search and recommendation systems.
Experience building magical and blazing-fast end-user experiences.
You're a master of your craft and eager to share your knowledge to help others grow.

Our base salary compensation is $180,000-$220,000 for this role, and the total compensation package will also include equity and benefits. We value each employee based on their impact within the company, regardless of their location. Due to this, we set salary ranges for all roles based on function, level, and benchmark against similar-stage growth companies. We share salary ranges on all job postings to comply with local legislation and provide greater transparency to candidates. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including past candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above. Additionally, we offer compensation review cycles 2x per year and have an annual equity refresh program.
