Composites Engineering Co-op

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Co-op with a focus on composites to join our team for one year, starting in Summer 2025. This role emphasizes hands-on experience in engineering tasks related to composites manufacturing, design, testing, and process development. The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering team to contribute to the establishment of our composites lab, assist in developing innovative processes, and actively participate in engineering-focused activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Process Development: Collaborate with engineers to develop and optimize composite manufacturing processes, focusing on efficiency, quality, and scalability.
• Composites Design: Assist in composites design activities, including material selection, layup design, and finite element analysis (FEA) simulations to ensure structural integrity and performance.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain composites manufacturing equipment, ensuring proper calibration, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Testing and Characterization: Participate in testing and characterization activities for composite materials and structures, including mechanical testing and material property characterization.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, observations, and results. Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
• Collaboration and Innovation: Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks, share insights, and contribute to a collaborative work environment. Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to solve engineering challenges.
Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong interest and coursework in composites manufacturing, materials science, and engineering design.
• Hands-on experience with engineering software tools such as CAD, FEA, and data analysis software.
• Familiarity with composite materials and manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to report to work daily at Oxnard Airport
Duration and Compensation:
This is a full-time co-op position for 1 year. The position is paid, and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
