Position Summary
We are hiring a Manager, Financial Solutions to join our Financial Solutions business unit and provide operational support to the Finance, Credit, and Internal Operations functions on commercial opportunities and deals throughout the deal lifecycle. This person will collaborate cross-functionally within the Financial Solutions unit, across Sparkfund’s other business units and teams, and with external stakeholders. This role is responsible for gathering necessary data, understanding the assumptions around development, ensuring supporting documentation is in place, and guiding projects through the lifecycle from funding to repayment.
This role will report to the Vice President, Finance & Operations and will have a high level of exposure across Sparkfund. The ideal candidate for this role is a problem solver interested in project finance and deal structuring and who is comfortable embracing new challenges.
Location
Sparkfund is a fully remote company, but all candidates must be based in the United States. This role does not have any required travel, but we expect this person to travel to Washington, DC and / or other US cities for organized team and / or company gatherings to collaborate with other members of the team / company, learn the ins and outs of our business, and contribute to our company culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather project specifications and pricing inputs for deal structuring, documenting assumptions, value drivers, and risks throughout the process.
- Develop project financing proposals and custom business case analyses for our external capital providers and our utility partners.
- Manage the deal development process, monitoring progress and providing regular status updates to key internal and external stakeholders throughout the process.
- Support the Commercial Solutions team and our utility partners throughout the project development process, ensuring compliance with the capital provider’s requirements.
- Coordinate timely and accurate handoff of data and customer information to and from multiple internal stakeholders, including our Commercial Solutions, Engineering, Deal Structuring, Legal, and Delivery teams as needed.
- Bring lessons learned back to the larger Sparkfund team and help build out the tools and processes of a robust commercial organization.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in finance operations or project management, finance, credit, or other relevant fields.
- Experience communicating with stakeholders at various levels, up through and including executives.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to translate financial / complex concepts and topics effectively for non-financial audiences.
- Experience managing multiple projects at one time, with a demonstrated ability to switch between contexts quickly and efficiently.
- Skilled at making sound and defensible decisions with incomplete information.
- Ability to build and maintain long-term, trusting relationships.
- Consultative approach to relationship management and meeting preparation (organized, anticipatory, goal-oriented).
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with or within the Utilities, Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Resilience, or ESCO industries.
- Competency in software and cloud-based information management tools including Excel, Salesforce, Google Workspace, Google App script, Slack, Asana, and project management tools.
- Familiarity with project development in the energy industry, including financing solutions such as leases, loans, or energy service agreements.
