The Operations Manager will be responsible for all production, warehouse, purchasing and field service activities in the Systems and Manufacturing Division. They are responsible for scheduling, purchasing, shipping, receiving and inventory management. This also includes overseeing work quality, productivity and attendance of employees along with providing training and mentoring to all new employees. The position will work cross functionally with engineering, quality, and manufacturing engineering to ensure on-time delivery of products, that meet customer requirement, and profitability targets. The Operations Manager is responsible for developing a highly functional team that uses lean and continuous improvements to create a best-in-class organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
General Management
- Oversee and manage work of the production, warehouse, and purchasing teams
- Build and maintain employee training programs
- Participate in development of product strategy, and product and business plans
- Develop and implement appropriate record keeping processes
- Hire, train, and evaluate personnel performance
- Motivate and coach the team to achieve operational success
- Prepare updates and reports on team performance (Key Performance Indicators)
Production Management
- Create sequence of operations for builds and coordinate labor resources with design engineering, and manufacturing engineering to support production schedules
- Manage all inventory activities including parts receiving, parts distribution, parts location management, cycle counting, and all associated MRP transactions supporting these activities
- Establish workflow and manufacturing policies to validate completion of work as designed
- Develop budgets, labor capacity plans, manufacturing capabilities, and equipment recommendations for improvement
- Drive and support continuous improvement activities within distribution, shipping and receiving, and inventory control
- Develop continuous improvement initiatives that improve production
- Collaborate with Project Management team to coordinate project initiatives and schedules with Production team. Provide training to Project Managers on system and production processes
- Work with Quality Department to develop root cause and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues
Supply Chain Management
- Lead efforts in supply chain diversification, risk mitigation and relationship management
- Interface with cross functional teams to build production schedules
- Collect and analyze data from ERP and internal tools to maintain visibility and predictability tools/dashboards to consistently present quality, pricing and inventory goals and progress
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field preferred
- 5-8 years’ experience in manufacturing operations
- 3-5 years’ experience as a supervisor or leadership capacity
- Excellent project management skills
- Experience bidding, negotiating and controlling supply chain costs
- Track record of successfully training employees in production, and safety
- Working knowledge of OSHA and radiological controls
- Experience with engineer-to-order production process
- Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as a group
- Lifting, rigging, and fall protection experience preferred
- Strong ERP, MS office, data analysis skills
Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
