General Purpose of the job:

The EHS Manager will serve as one of the role models for safety, protection of the environment, and preservation of the health of our employees, guests, and neighbors. The focus for this role will be direct oversight of the safety program for SHINE’s Janesville, WI construction site. This position will report directly to SHINE’s Operations Chief of Staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates a deep, personal commitment to safety, preservation of the environment, and the health of our employees, guests, and neighbors at all times.
  • Provide direct oversight of the safety program for an active construction site, including leading safety briefings, conducting site walk-downs, and interfacing with on-site construction contractor personnel.
  • Lead corporate program implementation, agency required data collection and reporting, risk assessment, incident analysis, training, and overall program management for all entities.
  • Coordinate and direct the work of other EHS personnel to maintain a consistent standard of EHS excellence in all SHINE facilities.
  • Maintain compliance actions and reporting with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, WDNR, DOT, and other applicable agencies. Includes completion and submission of all related reports on time.
  • Prepare and conduct employee training to cover workplace safety, emergency procedures, and other relevant topics.
  • Work with Radiation Protection staff to ensure alignment between industrial and radiological safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.


  • At least 5 years working experience as a safety professional, 3 years of which must be in a construction environment.
  • Bachelors’ degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related subject preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA).
  • Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft desktop software.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
