(Very) Part-time Event Marketing Coordinator and/or Booth Staff

San Francisco Bay Area or Los Angeles area | Hourly
QuitCarbon is looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on Part-time Event Marketing Contractor to help us help millions of homeowners transition off fossil fuels and on to clean, safe, electric energy.
Our team at QuitCarbon is doing tons of in-person events to talk with folks about getting fossil fuels out of their homes. We need help with staffing these events: setting up a table, talking to attendees, and enrolling them to get a free home electrification plan. Most of the events are on weekends.
The key to success at these events is to be confident and assertive in engaging passers-by in conversation about clean home upgrades, so we're looking for people who can bring a high level of energy!
You'll be the driving force behind acquiring new homeowner enrollments at events.

The Things You’ll Do and the Impact You'll Have:

Our marketing activities must attract and motivate a diverse set of customer personas, from climate-conscious homeowners shopping for state-of-the-art heat pump retrofits to cost-conscious homeowners with high utility bills and failed appliances. You’ll be attracting and motivating folks at events:
Attend events as a representative of QuitCarbon
Set up our “booth” (table, signs, collateral, etc)
Invite folks over to talk about electrifying their gas appliances - ask questions, share insights (we’ll teach you ), and enroll folks in QuitCarbon’s free service
Distribute literature (but try to get them to enroll first!)
Be friendly… and assertive - you’ll need to be outgoing and engaging to get folk’s attention
Most importantly, you will get to use your amazing event marketing skills to help tackle the climate crisis!

What We Look For:

Must Have:

Experience with one or more of
Tabling
Door knocking
Events
Street teams
Face-to-face customer interactions (including retail, food service, etc)
Sales
Strong individual contributor skills - you’ll get things done as a team of one.
Scrappy and resourceful execution - you are excited to work with a limited budget and an imperative to quickly deliver ever-improving results.
Effective collaboration - you know how to work with colleagues (remotely), when to seek outside resources, and when to shout “HELP!” - plus, you aren’t scared to say “I don’t know”.
A desire to constantly learn, grow, and eventually become a player + coach. When this goes well, your role could evolve into a mix of team leadership and individual contribution.
Outstanding in-person communication skills - you love connecting with folks face to face, engaging in a friendly and genuine way, learning about them, and sharing what we have to offer.
A passion for solving the climate crisis!

Nice to Have:

Experience with marketing home services, energy services, or related products to homeowners is a plus.
Experience with conceptualizing, implementing, tracking, analyzing, refining, and growing event marketing… events!

Compensation

$25+/hour (depending on experience) plus per-enrollment bonus
