We enable large constellations of satellites in low earth orbit (LEO) and beyond, both for commercial and government entities. Our plasma thruster enables new missions for satellites with next-generation propellants, while eliminating the primary failure points of legacy technologies. Job Summary
At Phase Four we are focused on delivering innovative propulsion solutions to meet the needs of tomorrow's satellite constellations. As our Machinist, you would drive the manufacturing operations in our in-house machine shop and support our philosophy for vertical integration fabrication and machining capabilities. Expert machining skills and capabilities from this role in manual and CNC machining operations from small scale fabrication to scaled production quantities will help support Phase Four’s mission in delivering high quality, space rated hardware in compliance with customer and internal requirements. This role is full-time, based onsite at our Hawthorne, CA location.
Core Responsibilities
  • Direct and drive machine shop operations including, but not limited to,
    • Manual mills and lathe fabrication processes for tooling or development hardware (+/-0.002” or better tolerances)
    • CNC mill and lathe fabrication supporting production operations at scale (+/-0.002” or better tolerances)
    • Fixture/tooling fabrication supporting hardware machining needs
    • Tool and equipment maintenance
    • Training/education/maintenance of professional
  • All operations supporting fabrication of development and flight hardware per engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with ASME Y 14.5 GD&T.
  • Support and direct machine shop operations and relevant equipment/tooling.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • ~4+yrs machine shop fabrication experience with, but not limited to, the following materials:
    • Ceramics (soft and hard)
    • Titanium alloys (Gr5, Gr4, etc)
    • Stainless Steel Alloys (3 series, 4 series, etc)
    • Aluminum Alloys (6 series, 7 series, etc)
    • Plastics (PTFE, Delrin, nylon, etc)
  • Precision inspection using standard methodologies and tools (in compliance with AS9201 or similar).
  • High level proficiency in design software (SolidWorks, NX, etc).
  • Leadership/training experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in a rapidly changing team environment toward both internal and external contacts.
  • Able to safely lift, stand, push/pull, carry and move heavy objects in compliance with OSHA guidelines.

Salary Range

  • $42.00-45.00 per hour.

Our Interview Process:

We understand that interviewing is an art that takes time on both sides of the spectrum. Phase Four's interview process is as follows:

  • Phone Interview with our Recruiting Team - 15-30 minutes - Where we learn about you, your experience, and what you're looking for in a new role, as well as give you a chance to learn about us, the role, and any questions you may have. If progressing to next step;
  • Video Interview with the Hiring Manager - 30 minutes - This interview reviews the technical aspects of the role as well as your technical background. This is a great time for both you and the hiring manager to get more in depth about the expectations and technical mindset needed for the role. If progressing to next step;
  • In-Person Interview - 90-120 minutes - You will be given a brief technical process to work through that relates to the role during the In-Person interview at our office. Also during this time, you'll get to meet our team, tour our facility, and see what we do at Phase Four! If progressing to next step;
