Job Summary:
As a Propulsion Engineer at Phase Four, you will be involved in the rapid design and development of new hardware for the Valkyrie Hall Effect Thruster. You will own thruster components and assemblies from design concepts through flight qualification, as well as help define manufacturing processes. You will work across multiple engineering disciplines in a dynamic environment and be integral to the success of the Valkyrie program.
Core Responsibilities:
- Generate 3D models and drawings for propulsion components and assemblies.
- Validate your designs through the entire lifecycle from concept to production, and successful flight demonstrations
- Perform design, analysis, and development engineering tasks for propulsion systems
- Interact with engineers and technicians from all disciplines, including mechanical, fluids, electrical, ground support equipment, software, test and production
- Coordinate with key propulsion vendors and suppliers through hardware delivery
- Perform additional duties as required
Minimum Qualifications / Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or another related engineering field.
- Over 2 years of mechanical design and development experience in industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical design, materials, and thermodynamics.
- CAD proficiency and experience with the practical application of GD&T.
- Experience designing for manufacturability, including considerations for machining, assembly, and testing.
- Demonstrated success in rapid design, build, and test of hardware.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
- Direct design and development experience with mechanical systems in the aerospace industry
- Knowledge in the use of FEA tools
- Experience with design, build, and/or test of electric propulsion technologies
- Experience in plasma physics applications
- GD&T application and analysis
Salary Range:
- $120,000.00-$150,000.00 Annually

- Phone Interview with our Recruiting Team - 15-30 minutes - Where we learn about you, your experience, and what you're looking for in a new role, as well as give you a chance to learn about us, the role, and any questions you may have. If progressing to next step;
- Video Interview with the Hiring Manager - 30 minutes - This interview reviews the technical aspects of the role as well as your technical background. This is a great time for both you and the hiring manager to get more in depth about the expectations and technical mindset needed for the role. If progressing to next step;
- In-Person Interview - 90-120 minutes - Join us for an in-person interview at our office. During this time, you'll get to meet our team, tour our facility, and see what we do at Phase Four! If progressing to next step;
