The VP, HR Operations is a strategic leader with deep experience with HR Operations, Total Rewards, and HR Systems. This is a significant and challenging role that is responsible for developing and implementing company-wide HR strategies, fostering best practices, and driving operational excellence and efficiency.
The VP HR Operations will have a focus on scale and taking OpenGov to the next level as we refine our processes, programs, and systems for the next phase of company growth. This person will own everything related to compensation, equity, Benefits, HR systems, annual cycles (including performance management, goal-setting/scoring, and more), M&A integration and people analytics. This person will run a high-performing team that needs a leader with the strategic experience and innate drive to help us scale with the needs of the business.
The ideal candidate will have both startup and public company experience. They will have the unique ability to think high-level/strategically about how to drive OpenGov’s business forward, and yet be able to roll up their sleeves operationally and dig into/ improve our processes and programs at a detailed level.
Responsibilities:
•Drive high-level strategic approach through day-to-day tactical operations for Compensation, Benefits, and HR Systems, optimizing for scale, efficiency, cost reduction and employee retention
•Develop an annual calendar of HR processes that is balanced, supports business needs, aligns with Finance processes and can scale over time
•Optimize company policies and HR processes to provide better employee experience, ensure legal compliance and scale as the company grows
•Identify and implement scalable technology solutions, from product testing/selection, drive approval processes and own through implementation/administration
•Design, develop, implement, communicate and administer all employee compensation and Benefits programs.
•Ensure our processes and programs work on a global scale, including for teams in India, Argentina, the Ukraine and elsewhere
•Own HR compliance and risk management through ownership of activities including handbook/policy updates, running required HR training, EEO reporting
•Own Executive compensation activities, helping the company operate with public-company best practices
•Promote an internal appreciation for the business value of strategic compensation while enhancing the basic rewards infrastructure so that there is a well-defined and appropriate framework in place
•Develop a clear and consistent Total Rewards philosophy to drive retention while keeping costs low
•Ensure that the approach to Equity Compensation is appropriate to OpenGov’s size, stage and culture. Recommend programs to ensure that OpenGov remains market-competitive
•Report on HR metrics and internal trends on a monthly cadence
Requirements and Preferred Experience:
•12+ years of HR leadership experience in Operations, Systems and/or Total Rewards
•Bachelor's degree in a related field required
•Experience in SAAS businesses preferred
•CCP certification preferred
•Experience in growth stage companies of 500 -> 1500 people preferred
•Strong strategic planning, project management and Executive communication skills.
•Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive deadlines for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
•Experience leading and coaching a team
•Deadline-driven, organized and able to multitask
•Comfort with ambiguity and proven ability to create clarity
•Exceptionally high integrity and stellar judgement
•Proven experience working with and influencing executive management
