PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Controller is responsible for providing overall financial oversight of Neuspera’s financial statements. The role involves the active management of the accounting functions, while serving as a valued business partner to the VP of Finance and leadership team of Neuspera. The ability to work in a collaborative manner across various functions of the organizations is essential.

This is a key role in the organization with responsibility and involvement across a broad range of financial and management areas. Specific activities include general accounting, internal controls, business and financial analysis, support of strategic initiatives, insightful management reporting, and implementation of new financial systems and business processes.

JOB DUTIES

  • Manage all aspects of the accounting function including AR, AP, Contract and Cost Accounting
  • In depth knowledge of US GAAP
  • Responsible for timely and accurate, preparation of monthly financial reports (and variance analysis) and other financial information in accordance with GAAP, and the Company specific reporting requirements
  • Responsible for interpretation and analysis of financial information
  • Responsible to partner with the VP of Finance on weekly cash reports, and prepare rolling cash forecasts once every month
  • Responsible for preparation of annual budget and rolling 15 month forecast
  • Monthly variance analysis between actual, budget and forecast
  • Ability to implement, maintain and monitor appropriate financial and internal controls in compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Ability to identify trends and implement corrective actions if necessary
  • Main point of contact for the external auditors including financial, state, local and IRS tax auditors if necessary
  • Attendance of management meetings in San Jose, CA
  • Other related duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA is a plus but not required
  • 8+ years of broad accounting experience including but not limited to: cost accounting, financial reporting, planning and forecasting, accounts receivable, cash management, consolidations, foreign currency and taxes
  • Medical device manufacturing required. A background in Urology / Uro-Gynecology or neuromodulation/active implantable devices preferred
  • Must be an experienced accounting system user (currently use QuickBooks) and experience with implementing an ERP is highly desired
  • Must have effective presentation skills and ability to use PowerPoint, MS Word and Excel
  • Results driven, collaborative team player capable of working well with others, as well as autonomously with limited direction
  • Practical experience with all aspects of development and execution of launch and go to market strategies essential desired
  • Strong clinical knowledge and aptitude and comfortable working with physicians in operating room and office setting
  • Excels at seeking influence and facilitating team-based problem solving
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated financial and strategic capabilities
  • Proven experience in strategic and tactical aspects of product launches
  • Ambitious and driven with a flexible mindset to handle changes in dynamic environment that often has ambiguity

COMPENSATION

Based on market data and other factors, the salary range for this position is $170,000 - $195,000. However, a salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those listed in the job description.
