About the Role
Lightship’s mission to modernize and electrify RVs demands building cutting edge electronics and controls. As a Senior Electronics Technician, you will work in the lab and collaborate with engineers and technicians on electronics to create an exciting product. You will assemble, test, debug, and repair circuit boards and clearly document the status of hardware. This role will also be responsible for lab management.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic components, PCBAs, and systems.
- Determine requirements and install modifications as set forth by engineering drawings, engineering change notices, schematic diagrams, and other applicable documentation
- Test and troubleshoot printed circuit boards using power supplies and other equipment
- Ownership of PCBA checkout and logging of issues on returned PCBAs.
- Source or fabricate replacement parts for electronic systems
- Engage in system-level testing and debugging
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and service equipment
- Adhere to electrical safety, ROHS and ESD protocols
- Organize and help maintain the electronics lab
- Participate in PCB design review process
- Travel up to 10% to support engineering builds and troubleshooting in the field
Minimum Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- 8 years experience working with hardware systems
- Proficient with electronic lab tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, thermocouples, etc.)
- Experience creating prototype wire harnesses for device bring-up
- Ability to read electrical schematics and datasheets
- Experience in visual board inspection, PCB level component testing, and troubleshooting
- Excellent PCBA soldering skills, including SMD components up to 0402, QFN
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity
- Experience working with high voltage DC (~400V) and AC (~240V)
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated cross-functional teamwork
Preferred Qualifications
- Some advanced technical training or coursework in engineering or electronics
- Operate basic power tools to accomplish fabrication of new or converted equipment
- Experience creating test setups and basic test fixtures
- Experience with data acquisition systems and measurement devices
- Comfortable loading software onto PCBAs
- Knowledge of computer programs such as Altium, Word, Excel and JIRA
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Passion for electronics
- Self-directed and motivated with the ability to work effectively in uncertain situations
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

- Lightship compensation consists of the hourly rate above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
Note: hourly rate offered will depend on level of experience
