As a Spacecraft Manufacturing Engineer at Impulse, you will be responsible for the manufacturing of solar arrays, chassis, mechanisms, propulsion subassemblies, and hardware integration for Mira.
Mira is a high-performance spacecraft for payload hosting and constellation deployment. Mira’s high delta-v capability and 6DOF control provide exceptional versatility for rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO) and space situational awareness (SSA). Flying since 2023, Mira continues to set the standard for orbital transfer vehicle (OTV) performance.

Responsibilities
- Own spacecraft build from components through final assembly
- Build, organize and manage a multidisciplinary schedule to drive delivery of the spacecraft on time
- Work and communicate effectively at a technical level with numerous teams across propulsion, avionics, structures, software, test, and manufacturing
- Identify, track, and communicate build issues and work across the organization to drive resolutions
- Provide feedback to design teams to improve processing of the spacecraft through the entire lifecycle
- Work directly with outside vendors, including periodic visits to those vendors
- Own the entire manufacturing life cycle for assigned projects & hardware
- Work directly with machinists & technicians to produce high-quality hardware
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- Demonstrated experience of developing manufacturing processes from scratch
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
- 2+ years of experience integrating, designing, and/or building an aerospace, industrial, chemical, or material manufacturing process
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Masters' degree in an engineering discipline
- 7+ years of experience working integration/design/build an aerospace, industrial, chemical, or material manufacturing process
- Hands-on experience working with complex fluid or mechanical systems in a professional setting
- Demonstrated expertise in the design, build, and operation of hazardous processing equipment
- Experience using Siemens NX, SOLIDWORKS, or similar CAD software
- Familiarity with industrial control systems (such as PLCs)
- Excellent written and oral communication, especially translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- General hands-on mechanical experience: welding, automotive, pumps/valves, rocketry, etc.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere
- Familiarity with propulsion systems and hardware, and orbital tube welding
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
