HawkEye 360 is currently seeking a Director of System Operations to lead three teams focusing on Satellite Operations, System Performance & Quality, and Collection & Capacity Management. Operations is at the center of the HawkEye360 value chain, which collects RF data from the 21 spacecraft we own and operate, routes the data through our network of ground stations, cloud processing and analytics to produce mission-critical insights for our customers. Organizationally, the Operations team is central to the qualification of every technology enhancement and the sale of every data product, working hand in hand with development teams and business stakeholders to achieve our goals.

As the Director, System Operations, your main responsibilities will be:
- Tackle high priority, mission critical requests and issues that arise and lead the team to overcome them.
- Mentor team managers, encourage growth and innovation, ensure the workload is sustainable and team morale is high.
- Manage and enhance a Quality Reporting system to regularly communicate system health and data product quality metrics in a variety of formats targeting customer, executive, technical, and business stakeholders.
- Work with engineering development and product teams to allocate time and resources to fix bugs affecting the production system, improve system performance, and build tooling to aid the operators in performing their jobs.
- Champion the needs and priorities of the operations team and production system, continuously looking for opportunities to improve with automation of tools and processes.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales and Mission Management to communicate status of customer orders and ensure SLA compliance.
- Oversee an on-call operator program. Respond to full time staffing needs for operators to serve global customers on site or remotely during their local time.
Education and experience:
- 10+ years professional experience involving operations, development and system engineering, technical project management, and quality management
- B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Engineering or a similar technical discipline; or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing teams, coaching, and mentoring.
- A passion for collaboration, delivering quality, and operational excellence.
- Familiarity with satellite operations
- Experience in a commercial product development company
- A passion for the geospatial data industry
