Job Title: Commercial Strategy Associate

Location: Houston, TX (on-site)

Reports To: Vice President of Strategy

Experience: 2-4 years

Overview: Epicore Biosystems (https://epicorebiosystems.com) has developed ‘skin-like’ wearable microfluidic solutions capable of non-invasively measuring sweat biomarkers, skin health, stress, and physiology in real time. Founded in 2017 as a spinout company from Northwestern University’s Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics, and backed by Chevron Technology Ventures and PepsiCo, Epicore has partnered with Fortune 100 companies, the Department of Defense, and leading biotechnology companies to deliver personalized hydration, fitness, nutrition, and health management solutions. At our Houston location, we are seeking a full-time Commercial Strategy Associate who is passionate about transforming human health while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and highly collaborative environment. Epicore designs and sells wearable systems for worker safety, wellness, sports and fitness, clinical research, and other industries.

The Commercial Strategy Associate will report directly to the VP of Strategy and serve as a key resource in driving revenue growth, strategic partnerships, and business development initiatives. This role is ideal for a highly analytical, execution-focused individual with 2-3 years of experience in management consulting (MBB or similar), or corporate strategy and business development, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

The Commercial Strategy Associate will work across sales, partnerships, customer success, and strategic planning—helping to shape and execute the company’s commercial growth initiatives. This role requires a strong mix of structured problem-solving, communication skills, and hands-on execution, with responsibilities ranging from partner outreach and sales support to strategic analysis and operational execution. This is a high-visibility position that will provide direct exposure to executive leadership and significant opportunities for career growth.

Objectives

  • Support VP of Strategy, Chief Revenue Officer, and CEO on business development, partnerships, and sales initiatives.
  • Assist in managing and growing strategic partnerships.
  • Drive sales follow-ups and execution by managing outreach, proposals, and customer interactions.
  • Enhance customer success efforts through proactive engagement and relationship management.
  • Provide data-driven insights and reporting to optimize sales, partnerships, and customer retention.

Responsibilities

  • Partnerships & Business Development Support: Research, evaluate, and help execute strategic partnerships.
  • Sales Operations & Follow-Ups: Manage pipeline tracking, follow up on key deals, and support direct sales efforts.
  • Customer Success & Account Management: Engage with existing customers to improve retention and expansion.
  • Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Provide insights on industry trends, competitors, and growth opportunities.
  • Digital Tool Utilization: Leverage Salesforce, Excel, PowerPoint, and other AI-enabled digital tools for efficient execution.
  • Support Internal Strategy Projects: Work with leadership to identify revenue growth opportunities and process improvements

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-4 years in management consulting (MBB or top-tier firm preferred) or corporate strategy and/or business development.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (modeling, data analysis) and PowerPoint (deck building, communication).
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to measure and report on success.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with experience presenting to leadership teams
  • Excellent structured problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in client-facing roles with strong communication and relationship management.
  • High adaptability, execution ability, and comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot) or sales enablement platforms.
  • Background in business development, partnerships, or sales strategy.
  • Interest in startups, business growth, and revenue functions.
  • Technical acuity and/or experience with wearables or other high-tech products

Work Modality: As a Commercial Strategy Associate, you will report directly to the VP of Strategy and be based in our Houston office. This office is a growing satellite location, and you will be expected to work on-site multiple days per week to foster collaboration and execution.

You will also travel as needed for customer visits, conferences, and periodic trips to our Boston headquarters, where most of our team is based. The VP of Strategy travels to Boston monthly, providing regular opportunities for alignment with the broader leadership team.
