Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Class A Surface Hard Modeler Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will specialize in hand surfacing and blending of additively manufactured aluminum parts. This role is crucial in ensuring the highest quality surface finish for our hypercar components, which include organic structures that require meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have experience in composite materials and automotive paint, with a strong focus on achieving flawless raw, painted, and coated finishes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Surface Preparation and Finishing:
Hand surfacing and blending of imperfections on Additively Manufactured aluminum parts.
Preparation of surfaces to meet high-quality standards for raw, painted, and coated finishes.
Ensuring seamless blending and transitions on organic structures and complex geometries.
2.Quality Control and Standards:
Inspect parts for surface defects, ensuring they meet company and industry standards.
Collaborate with the quality control team to address any identified issues and implement corrective actions.
3.Material Handling and Knowledge:
Work with composite materials and understand the nuances of different substrates and coatings.
Utilize specialized tools and equipment for sanding, polishing, and finishing surfaces.
4.Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with the design, engineering, and production teams to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality surfaces.
Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements and material selections.
5.Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of work performed, including measurements, processes, and materials used.
Report any issues or challenges encountered during the surfacing process to the appropriate teams.
Qualifications:
•Proven experience in Class A surface modeling, particularly with aluminum parts in the automotive or aerospace industry.
•Strong skills in hand surfacing, blending, and finishing techniques.
•Experience with composite materials and automotive paint processes is highly preferred.
•Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics and quality.
•Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills.
•Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
•High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus.
