Purpose of Job:
Divergent Technologies has revolutionized the design and manufacturing of vehicles through the creation of the first truly digital production system. Divergent’s Adaptive Production System (DAPS™) leverages proprietary materials, machines, and processes spanning key domains such as materials science (metallurgy and polymer science), machine design, metrology, additive manufacturing, automation, and software development. To continue to scale and reach our goals we need talent like you. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Metrology Technician to join our diverse and innovative team at our facility in Torrance.

In the role of Metrology Technician, you will have an opportunity to be part of our growing company and it will allow you to gain valuable experience in various projects and fields of expertise. Together with our team of experts, you will work on various parts for our high-end customers as well as the record-breaking Czinger 21C.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:
1)Measurements:
a)Perform 3D scanning of printed parts using the FARO/Romer arm, Creaform C-Track/MetraSCAN, or GOM ScanBox.
b)Develop and generate PolyWorks inspection projects and reports.
c)Conduct precision measurements using a variety of metrology tools and equipment.
d)Verify the accuracy and reliability of measurement data to support production and quality control activities.
e)Assist in the development and validation of measurement methods and procedures (Gage R&Rs).
f)Support Quality Control Technicians with part inspections.
2)In-Process Support:
a)Assist in managing and resolving Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) in Manufacturo.
b)Support in maintaining Divergent’s Quality Management System (QMS) and controlled documents.
3)Maintenance:
a)Perform routine calibration of measuring instruments and equipment according to established procedures and schedules.
b)Ensure all equipment is maintained in proper working condition, troubleshooting and repairing as necessary.
c)Maintain detailed and accurate calibration records, including certificates of calibration, using GAGEpack.
4)Continuous Improvement:
a)Identify opportunities for process improvements in the metrology function.
b)Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to address calibration and measurement issues.
c)Support the implementation of new technologies and best practices in metrology.
5)Maintain Work Area:
a)Use 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working area.
b)Notify the team lead when consumables are needed and keep the area stocked.
c)Assist in performing maintenance on inspection tools as needed.
Work Environment:
•Work is performed in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject or equivalent.
Licenses/Certificates:
Relevant certifications in metrology or quality control are a plus.
Experience:
•2+ years of experience in scanning or probing parts for inspection purposes.
•Proficient in using PolyWorks inspection software.
•Experience in metrology systems based on industry standards such as IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 17025, & ISO 9001.
•General knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Skills:
•Strong organizational skills.
•Proficient computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software.
•Completes work with little to no assistance. Works under limited supervision with latitude for independent judgement.
•Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
•Effective communication and documentation skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
•Self-motivation with a hunger for continuous learning.
Physical Demands:
•Able to operate measurement systems for extended periods of time.
•Able to work on-site.
•Able to climb stairs.
•Able to lift and carry 50+ lbs.
