Purpose of Job:
Develop, Validate, and Deploy tools to advance the state of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing. Drive improvements on Manufacturing Productivity, Process Repeatability, Geometric Capability, and Material Properties.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:
•Work independently to develop a deep understanding of the L-PBF process through data analysis to identify and define high priority solutions that drive print productivity and material property improvements.
•Work with software teams to implement novel print file toolpath generation strategies, validate functionality, and deploy for use on development and production teams.
•Perform design of experiments with L-PBF processes, generating print files to validate tools and parameters.
•Analyze printed material via metallography, static/dynamic materials testing, and surface finish characterization to guide process development.
•Collaborate closely with M&P, Applications, and Software Engineering teams to establish standard process development phases.
•Define key controls and calibrations required from L-PBF systems in order to deploy robust processes across a fleet.
•Establish framework for how support structures are generated and deployed on production applications.
•Possess the ability to independently define scope, manage resources, prioritize efforts, measure progress, and effectively communicate status of development activities.

Requirements:
Education:
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or related engineering field
Licenses/Certificates:
Experience:
2+ years - Hands on with metal L-PBF equipment
2+ years - AM pre-print slicer software tools
Experience with laser welding process parameters
Experience with metallography and mechanical testing
Skills:
3D Modeling CAD – Preferably Teamcenter NX
Establishing robust Design of Experiments (DOE)
Ability to apply Statistical Analysis to Datasets
Physical Demands:
Able to carry up to 25 lbs.
