Divergent has invented a complete manufacturing solution to address system level challenges. The Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS) is a complete software hardware solution designed to replace traditional vehicle manufacturing. To make the complex simple, it is a complete modular digital factory for complex structures. Given a set of digital requirements as input, the machine automatically computationally engineers, additively manufactures, and assembles any complex structure. The system is able to move seamlessly between manufacturing different vehicle models.
The Project Management Office (PMO) serves as the core point of contact for customers from early market scoping engagement through successful launch of mass production programs and marketing support. As the Business Development Strategist – Aerospace & Defense, you will support new business proposals including market research and analysis, evaluation of market potential,verification of initialprogram requirements, and analysis of total business fit. You will work with Divergent’ssenior leaders to build relationships and hold high-level engagements with external customer at the executive and board level with the mission to drive development and implementation of new applications for Divergent’s unique additive manufacturing and automated assembly technology with OEMs and Prime Contractors.This role will report to the Director of Customer Program Management.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards

  • Lead all aspects of business development strategies fromcustomer engagement, contracts review, proposal development, business development roadmap, and financial and capacity forecasting
  • Lead allearly market research and proposal development efforts that align new business opportunities with the company’s long-term strategic vision for aerospace and defense
  • Responsible for researching and identifying opportunities within aerospace and defense to apply Divergent'snovel manufacturing system, Divergent Adaptive Production System
  • Identify and obtain RFPs from aerospace/defense primes for new and continuing program opportunities
  • Lead and/or participate in proposal activities, including generation of technical, management, cost, schedule, and proposal content for new business
  • Develop and manage bid/no-bid strategies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for initialcustomer engagement, to capture and flow down technical and contractual requirements, participate in contract negotiations, coordinate technical and contractual changes, and build customer confidence in Divergent
  • Participate in regular cross-functional internal review with assigned team leaders to ensure that program deliverables and milestones are well understood and schedulessupport customer requirement
  • Participate in trade shows and events to promote Divergent's technology and capabilities

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience in business development, program management, and technical sales in the aerospace or defense industries
  • Strong business modeling and strategy skills, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experienced with DoD programs, including full product life cycle
  • Strong understanding of FAR/DFAR
  • Military experience at senior command and/or staff levels
  • Strong knowledge of additive manufacturing and digital design tools
  • Experience with automated assembly and/or robotics a plus
  • PMP and Scrummaster certification
  • Master’s degree in engineering or science discipline
  • Master of business administration
  • Experienced with project management tools such as MS Projects, scrum boards, gantt, Smartsheet, Confluence and Jira
  • Experienced withPLM (Teamcenter), MRP, ERP, MES systems
  • Proven track recordcollaborating with multi-domain internal and external technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Direct experience with technical and commercial negotiations and conflict resolution
  • Highly detail oriented, diligent, hard working with excellent customer interface skills
  • Ability to lead in a highly challenging, dynamic, and innovative start-up atmosphere

Physical Demands

  • Must be available to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to support critical milestones or operations shifts
  • Must be willing to frequentlytravel domestically and internationally to customer locations, trade shows, and other locations as needed to support business development

  • Ability to obtain security clearance if necessary
