This role will execute the accounting and financial reporting function of Clear Ballot while also assisting with various operational functions. This individual will report up to the Senior Director of Finance and the Finance Manager. The primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Accounting/Finance:

  • Vouching AP, issuing invoices, AR dunning, Expense report review, general bookkeeping, database management, document storage, account reconciliation, etc.
  • Liasing with customers and vendors on a regular basis to ensure accurate documentation
  • Completing all month end tasks including preparation and posting of journal entries, completion of checklists, analysis and facilitating discussion with the other members of the finance team
  • Interpretation and implementation of new accounting guidelines and best practices, preparation of financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and presentation of observations to the finance team
  • Consolidation of Canadian cost center and addressing minimal FX transactions
  • Documenting internal controls, policies and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
  • Preparing and presenting business activity reports and assisting with financial forecasts and annual budgets
  • Auditing accounts to ensure accuracy of data and coordinating with outside auditors and providing needed information for the annual external audit
  • Assisting with Payroll runs and related journal entries
  • Presenting recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies with supporting data
  • Providing financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Assisting in the compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Liasing with other department heads to understand cash flows and timing of financial needs
  • Collaborating with finance team to receive mentorship and growth opportunities

Operations:

  • Assisting with physical inventory management and tracking in our ERP (Odoo).
  • Preparing purchase orders in the ERP for review and approval
  • Assisting in the planning & preparation for manufacturing runs from a logistical standpoint (e.g. pipeline review, procurement timelines)
  • Evaluating operational workflows and their impact on the financial reporting, including items such as landed cost applications, inventory scrapping and pricing adjustments
  • Using data to highlight areas of concern or success throughout the organization.

Experience:

  • The ability to work independently in a dynamic work environment while also particpiating as a key team member
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial analysis skills
  • Professional written and verbal communication
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and concepts and familiarity with tax rules and regulations.
  • Excellent in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • 4+ years or more of related experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
