Cents is hiring a Lead Android Engineer to join our growing in-house team and have a major impact on the features and performance of our native applications. This person will be responsible for executing the product roadmap set by our team, with a specialty in integration-related activities that tie together the various systems used to power our customers.
This is a remote role, preferably working in Eastern time.
Role and Responsibilities
- Build for the user! Consistently raise the bar for the quality and polish of the CentsOS product user experience
- Write very high-quality, maintainable code and lead testing and QA approval to ensure Android app stability
- Evolve and improve engineering standards and practices across the organization
- Strategically prepare for sprints and hold accountability for sprint attainment
- Demonstrate expertise in the resolution of software failures and formalize processes and SLAs to guide the wider team on how to tackle these in the future
- Guide platform-level improvements that touch many systems
- Display exceptional productivity when working both independently and pairing to drive work to completion
- Be a mentor and teacher to other engineers, and a cross-functional partner to non-engineering stakeholders
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in building native Android mobile applications
- 2+ years working in Java
- Expert-level knowledge of Kotlin and/or Java
- Demonstrable systems-thinking skills and understanding of the part apps play as part of a larger system
- Proven ability to recognize and drive attractive API design with consideration for what the app needs from an API in the near and long term
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills
- Fluent verbal and written English skills
