The Team You’ll Work With

You’ll be leading a scrum within the Private Equity business unit, created at the start of 2020 to focus on building a new product and sales motion into the Private Equity market. Today, we are a diverse team of 18 individuals. Our team is diverse in multiple axes: gender, nationality, technical specialization, and other quirks — this our strength. In such an environment, trust and humility are of utmost importance. We are biased toward action and believe in the mantra of build -> measure -> learn. Our development philosophy closely mirrors Agile Scrum, but we are not afraid to deviate from it. We care about solving customer problems first and engineering problems second.

The Problems You’ll Solve

Zero to one, help build Carta’s next billion dollar business.

Carta grew through helping Corporations in the Venture Capital market fix their Cap Tables. In a big market with a clear problem, Henry and the early eShares team built the de facto Cap Table solution for Venture. Today, we have over 30,000 happy customers including some of the world’s most notable technology companies. Now, we’re going after Private Equity, a market we think is 10 times bigger than Venture. We’re starting with helping LLCs manage equity. Then we’ll expand by offering modeling tools and reporting tools for Private Equity firms. Ultimately, we will expand into other asset classes as the business grows.

You will help expand our product suite for Private Equity. You will mature our nascent LLC Cap Table product and discover new ways to drive value in the Private Equity software stack.

You will run your scrum team as a CEO runs their business. You will clearly define a product strategy and be held accountable for executing against that strategy by shipping a high quality product in a timely manner.

In summary, you will

  • Establish a product vision and then drive consensus within business, engineering, and design around it
  • Own the end to end product lifecycle for your product area, including market research, product requirements, agile scrum development, and product marketing.

About You

Foremost, you are a builder. You build software to solve business problems.

You have the technical chops to help an engineer refine a technical architecture. You sweat the details of a design on a new feature. You thrive when collaborating on a new business strategy for next quarter. You blend business, design, and technology into a clear product strategy.

You are a top 1% communicator. You can bridge the gap between people in different business functions. You are kind, helpful, unconventional, and relentless.

Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:

  • $157,250 - $185,000 in [San Francisco, CA, Santa Clara, CA]

Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
