Job Title: Compliance Administrator

Reports to: Compliance & Sustainability Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Job Overview:


The Compliance Administrator plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all compliance aspects of alcoholic beverage production within the organization. This role is essential for ensuring the company's strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations governing the production, labeling, marketing, and distribution of alcoholic beverages. Given the highly regulated nature of the industry, the Compliance Administrator is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of production, distribution, and marketing of company products strictly comply with these regulations. This is vital to avoid legal complications, uphold the company's reputation, and ensure consumer safety.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay up to date with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations relevant to alcoholic beverage manufacturing.
  • Ensure that the company's operations and practices comply with all applicable regulations.

Permit and License Management:

  • Manage and maintain licenses and permits required for alcoholic beverage manufacturing.
  • Ensure timely renewal of permits and licenses.

Labeling and Packaging Compliance:

  • Manage and maintain all product labels required for alcoholic beverage manufacturing on the federal and state level
  • Ensure timely label renewals at the state level
  • Obtain timely label approvals for all new products according to innovation timelines
  • Review and approve all alcoholic beverage labels and packaging to ensure they meet all legal requirements through TTB Formula and TTB COLA submission

Tax Compliance:

  • Manage and report excise taxes and other financial obligations related to alcoholic beverage production.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax payments.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain records for manufacturing activities, quality control procedures, and compliance documentation in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Prepare and maintain records for audits and inspections.

Audits and Inspections:

  • Prepare for and participate in regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Address any compliance issues identified during audits and inspections.

Training and Education:

  • Train employees on compliance-related matters and company policies.
  • Ensure that all staff members understand and follow compliance procedures.

Environmental and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure that the manufacturing facility complies with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Implement practices to minimize environmental impact.

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to alcoholic beverage manufacturing.
  • Prior experience in a similar compliance role within the alcoholic beverage industry.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with tax compliance related to alcoholic beverages is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business, compliance, or a related discipline.

Optional Requirements:

  • Certification in compliance management or alcohol beverage regulation.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software and systems for compliance management.

Compliance in the alcoholic beverage manufacturing industry is critical due to the strict regulations in place to protect consumer safety and prevent fraud. As a compliance administrator you will help the company navigate these complex rules and regulations to operate legally and responsibly.
