Axoft is building the most advanced and scalable platform for implantable brain-machine interface. Our mission is to enable minimally invasive, long-term stable and ultra-high bandwidth communication with the brain, opening new therapies and treatments against neurological disorders and physical imparities. We have bridged the gap between electronic and biological materials to create the softest, nanofabricated brain implants in the world. As a microfabrication engineer at Axoft, you will be working with Microfabrication teams in nanofabrication facilities to manufacture the softest neural probes in the world. This job will be on-site at Cambridge, MA.

About you:

  • You find large challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them.

  • You deliver. You may enjoy thoughtful conversations about problems and perfecting designs, but in the end, you know that what matters is delivering a manufacturable solution that works every time.

  • You are a cross-disciplinary team member. You are excited to work with and learn from software, mechanical, electrical, materials, biological engineers, and neuroscientists. You are comfortable communicating across teams.

  • Resourceful, flexible and adaptable; no task is too big or too small.

Key qualifications:

  • Desire to work reliably with small and delicate processes where precision is critical.

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor program in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related fields.

  • Attention to details, able to follow fabrication protocols and deliver reliable results in a timely manner, keep detailed notations for fabrication procedures.

  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment.

  • Solid understanding of semiconductor manufacturing techniques.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related fields.

  • Hands on experience fabricating devices in cleanroom.

  • Experience with soft materials handling and patterning.

Your responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and report to Research Scientist about the general progress and strategy for development.

  • Follow a standard protocol and produce brain machine interface devices to support the development efforts of related team members.

  • Production of engineering documentation, processes, and workflows.

  • Maintain good organizational relationships with other departments and engineering disciplines.
