We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background utilizing systems engineering principles on complex systems to support Axiom Station. The position has emphasis on developing technical requirements and planning the corresponding verification. Flexibility will be key as this role and responsibilities could evolve as the program moves through various lifecycle phases.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development of technical requirements (both internal and external)

  • Perform and manage requirements functional decomposition, allocation, and traceability

  • Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews

  • Plan and implement verification and validation (V&V) strategy, including implementation practices and processes

  • Develop and support requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, and operations

  • Work closely with NASA to integrate joint verification activities with the International Space Station

  • Establish and oversee verification requirements for subsystems and suppliers as part of the integrated V&V plan

  • Collaborate with system and subsystem engineers, program office personnel and customers for Requirements and V&V planning, scheduling, and execution

  • Prepare technical documentation and presentations for peers, management, and external customers and partners

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related discipline)

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering activities, including Requirements and V&V development, planning and execution

  • Demonstrated analytical skills including critical thinking and innovative approaches

  • A background in space systems engineering including an understanding of space vehicle design, space system architecture development, and space missions and operations development is desired

  • Detailed knowledge of spaceflight subsystems and functions is desired, preferably human spaceflight related experience

  • Experience with JAMA or other requirements management tool is desired

  • Familiarity with the Project Management and Design cycle processes, e.g., PDR, CDR, SAR

Required Skills

  • Must have strong verbal communications skills with the ability to speak boldly, clearly, and concisely in groups to communicate important information in a multi-disciplinary team

  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills

  • Have demonstrated the ability to interact with multi-disciplinary teams

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision

  • Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic

  • Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills

  • Result oriented personality with a creative approach to problem solving

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Work Environment:

  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
