Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Quality Control (QC) professional who is preoccupied with big questions: Where do we go from here? What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Lead QC Technician who’s a wealth of knowledge with a broad experience base. You will be a voice for best inspection practices and share your experience to ensure the seamless integration of QC into the production process. You will be responsible for the scheduling and coordination of QC activities and resources. You will be performing inspection of our company products to ensure they meet the required legal and company standards for safety and quality. You will report QC department performance metrics and escalate safety and quality issues to management. You will develop inspection and test plans. You will maintain calibrated test & inspection equipment, prepare test data, and identify areas for quality control improvement. You may operate company vehicles to store and transport materials and products.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Forecasting and scheduling inspection activities of the Quality Control team in tandem with organizational milestones.
  • Inspecting company products with working knowledge of CMMs, laser tracking systems, optical comparators, imaging systems, handheld metrology tools, visual inspection, NDE methods, and welding inspection methods.
  • Reviewing and approving inspection reports including AS9102 First Article Inspection, receiving inspection reports, and test data collected.
  • Inspecting products and observing workmanship according to quality and safety standards across all stages of production
  • Ensuring company tools and equipment are calibrated on time
  • Managing specialized inspection equipment, including maintenance, calibration, and readiness of equipment.
  • Reporting QC department performance metrics to management
  • Reporting safety and quality concerns to management with urgency and accuracy
  • Identifying possible areas for improvement in quality control processes and implement new methods accordingly
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and enforce clean and orderly work areas
  • Develop inspection and test plans in coordination with Logistics, Production, and Engineering.
  • Advocate for Quality, Safety, and Mission Assurance objectives

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
    • Minimum of 10+ years of inspection experience

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated leader in Quality Control and inspection practices
  • Experience and familiarity with non-conformance reporting, Material Review Board, product dispositions
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of GD&T and its application
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mechanical inspection tools and its application.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace nondestructive examination practices including dye penetrant, fluorescent penetrant, ultrasonic test, eddy current, magnetic particle inspection methods.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace welding practices
  • High-level of visual awareness include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Preferred Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of ASME Y14.5-2018
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of PC-DMIS
  • IPC-A-610 Certification or NASA equivalent
  • IPC/WHMA-620 with Space Addendum Certification or NASA equivalent
  • NAS410 Level 1 and 2 Certification
  • NASA-STD-8739.1 thru 6 Certification
  • AWS QC1 Certification
  • Familiarity with ANSI/ESD S20.20
  • Familiarity with ANSI/AIAA S-081A
  • Familiarity with NASA workmanship standards
  • Familiarity with Cleanroom practices
  • Keyence Image Measurement experience
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience
  • AS9100 Quality Management Systems experience

Essential Functions

  • Work Environment: Generally, a production environment and can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
