SUMMARY

Our team is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who will coordinate with all subsystems and functional teams to layout and configure integrated locations of the station as well as design and develop integrated hardware that will become the world’s first commercial space station. This role is onsite and will be based at our ASTC facility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the mechanical integration of hardware components of subsystems to deliver to Assembly, Integration, & Testing (AIT) for assembly and installation.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain system level CAD assembly models representing integrated locations and hardware.
  • Conduct integration design reviews with subsystem and functional stakeholders to progress designs through the lifecycle development process.
  • Collaborate with Human Safety Integration (HSI) and Logistics and Maintenance to ensure integration of hardware satisfies requirements for on-orbit use and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with AIT and subsystem owners to define assembly sequence of hardware into integrated modules.
  • Generate assembly drawing trees and indentured parts lists (IPL) of mid and top-level integrated hardware assemblies.
  • Prepare integration progress reports and CAD status metrics to present to the Office of Chief Engineer (OCE) and Program Management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field required.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in space flight hardware development or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in organization of technical reviews for flight development projects.
  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS 3D modeling software or similar computer aided design tool.
  • Experience with PDM software such as SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) or similar.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings and dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y-14 preferred.
  • Experience delivering projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies preferred.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) preferred.
  • Certification in SOLIDWORKS (CSWA, CSWP, CSWE) preferred.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), a plus.

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
