SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Deputy Director, HR who will plan, lead, direct, develop and coordinate those policies, activities and HR staff as assigned by the Director of HR. This role is onsite and will be based at our Houston HQ facility.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with executive and senior leadership to advise, counsel, and provide coaching and resolution to address employees’ performance as well as understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention, demonstrating our core value of together.
- Provides direct management oversight of assigned HR functional areas including, but not limited to payroll, benefits, data analytics, and compensation management, demonstrating our core value of leading.
- In partnership with the Director of HR, identifies areas of improvement, and best practices, through the creation and development of processes, policies, and procedures in the following areas, including, but not limited to retention, personnel records, job evaluation, compensations management, benefits administration, organizational development, workers compensation, safety, training, AAP/EEO and other special projects, demonstrating our core value of innovation.
- Creates and fosters a highly engaging culture, through motivation, high levels of teamwork, accountability, communication, and vision to employees.
- Assists to plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs, in alignment with our core value of integrity.
- Provides consultation and guidance to improve working relationships across the organization and to increase productivity and retention within the HR department and all divisions of the organization, demonstrating our core competency of problem solving.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, organization development or related degree required.
- 10+ years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues, and roles of increased and challenging responsibilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience with Human Resources Management preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, both in influencing a complex organization, managing an HR department and change management required.
- Prior responsibility in creation of business plans, budgets, and performance metrics monitoring
- Demonstrated breadth of experience and knowledge of human resources practices and processes (benefits, compensation, payroll, recruiting, training, administration, time and attendance) required.
- Experience in start-up environment strongly preferred.
- SHRM-CP/SCP, or SPHR/PHR preferred.
Essential Functions
Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
Requirements
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Physical Requirements
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
