Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Project Engineer who is preoccupied with big questions: Where do we go from here? What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

NASA chose Axiom Space to develop its next-generation astronaut spacesuits for the Artemis lunar missions. These new spacesuits built by Axiom Space will provide astronauts with advanced capabilities for space exploration, while providing commercially developed human systems needed to access, live, and work in microgravity as well as on and around the Moon.

SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Interfaces Engineer who will primarily be responsible for defining, specifying, and otherwise developing interfaces between Axiom Space and external stakeholders. This role is onsite and will be based at our Gemini facility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on a collaborative team defining, coordinating, tracking, and baselining Axiom’s EVA interfaces via IRDs, ICDs, and IDDs, in alignment with our core value of leading.
  • Apply systems engineering principles to develop EVA interfaces, including the following:
    • Concept of operations support
    • Interface definition and management
    • Interface control and management
    • Planning, coordination, implementation, and close-out of interface documentation with external stakeholders
    • Life cycle review coordination and support
    • Interface verification planning and execution
  • Ensure coordination of design changes and associated impacts across the program and with external stakeholders, in alignment with our core value of together.
  • Identify program risks and mitigations, demonstrating our competency of organizational support.
  • Manage integrated performance assessments and trade studies
  • Analyze data and make recommendations for improvement, demonstrating our competency in problem solving.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other STEM related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in systems engineering, or similar role or a combined equivalent amount of education and experience
  • Strong background in blank page design, systems engineering, and integration
  • Familiarity with Jama, DOORS, or other requirements management database software suites
  • General systems engineering knowledge and practices in line with INCOSE and /or NASA standards
  • Familiarity with performing work in an Agile environment
  • INCOSE Certification preferred

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
