Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Deputy Manager who is preoccupied with big questions: Where do we go from here? What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

NASA chose Axiom Space to develop its next-generation astronaut spacesuits for the Artemis lunar missions. These new spacesuits built by Axiom Space will provide astronauts with advanced capabilities for space exploration, while providing commercially developed human systems needed to access, live, and work in microgravity as well as on and around the Moon.

SUMMARY: The SE&I Deputy Manager will work with all elements of the Axiom Extravehicular Activity program teams to assist in leading the SE&I process to define hardware/system requirements and develop operational concepts, interface control documents, verification and validation plans, and other products. The department’s primary responsibility is developing the next generation Space Suit for commercial space. The role will be located onsite at our Gemini Avenue location in Houston, Texas.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support leadership and assist the SE&I team by setting goals, organizing, and delivering products through collaborative
  • Gather business requirements and work with product owners to translate them to technical requirements, demonstrating our competency of organizational support
  • Work with the teams to define verification and validation approaches and create required documentation, in alignment with our core values of together and integrity
  • Work with all levels of internal and external management, our internal and external customers to deliver project statuses and out-briefs, demonstrating our core competency of communications
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, science, or related field
  • 10 years’ experience in SE&I (with a preference for work in support of space missions) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with defining aerospace hardware design requirements and associated software to publish hardware requirements
  • Experience with leading multi-discipline SE&I teams
  • Ability to motivate and provide clear and concise direction to direct reports
  • Must be able to manage project scope and schedule
  • Support Agile development, architecture, and scrum implementation, using Jira, JAMA, and Confluence
  • INCOSE Certification preferred
  • Experience with requirements management and MBSE tools preferred (Jama, Doors, Sparx Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw, etc.)

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
